Biography

Cida Moreira is a prominent Brazilian singer and actress whose career has been defined by her sophisticated interpretation of jazz, blues, and MPB classics. Trained as a pianist from childhood, she initially pursued a degree in psychology and worked in the field for seven years before fully dedicating herself to the arts, beginning her professional career in theater and musicals in 1977. Her breakthrough came with her 1981 live album Summertime, which showcased her distinctive vocal style and established her presence in São Paulo's vibrant cultural scene through the Lira Paulistana label.

Throughout her extensive discography, Moreira has continually explored diverse repertoires, ranging from theatrical works by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill to tributes to legendary Brazilian composers such as Chico Buarque, Cartola, and Dolores Duran. Her 2008 album Angenor focused on the deeper, lesser-known compositions of Cartola, while subsequent works like A Dama Indigna blended contemporary pop artists with traditional Brazilian standards. Alongside her solo recordings, she has collaborated with numerous notable figures in Brazilian music, including Arrigo Barnabé, Zélia Duncan, and Thiago Pethit.
