Biography

Cidadão Instigado is a Brazilian rock band formed in Fortaleza in 1996, led by composer, arranger, guitarist, and vocalist Fernando Catatau. The group is widely recognized for crafting a distinct musical style that merges traditional northeastern Brazilian music with 1970s rock and the melancholy aesthetic of romantic brega music. Throughout their career, they have released several acclaimed studio albums, including their 2002 debut O Ciclo da Decadência, followed by Cidadão Instigado e o Método Tufo de Experiências in 2005.

In September 2009, the band released their third album titled Uhuuu!, which was supported by the Prêmio Pixinguinha and Funarte. This project featured notable collaborations with prominent Brazilian artists such as Arnaldo Antunes and Edgard Scandurra, further cementing the band's reputation within the alternative rock scene. The lineup has featured musicians like Regis Damasceno, Clayton Martin, Rian Batista, and Dustan Gallas, contributing to the group's rich texture of guitars, keyboards, and vocals.

The band continued to expand their discography with the release of their album Fortaleza in 2015, continuing their legacy in Brazilian independent music. Fernando Catatau has also extended his artistic reach beyond the band, notably producing albums for other influential figures in the national scene, such as Arnaldo Antunes. Their innovative approach keeps them connected to both regional roots and contemporary rock experimentation.
