Biography

Cidadão Quem was a prominent Brazilian rock band formed in 1990 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The original lineup featured Duca Leindecker on vocals and guitars, his brother Luciano Leindecker on bass, and Cau Hafner on drums. Taking their name as an inspired nod to Orson Welles's classic film Citizen Kane, the group quickly established themselves as a vital force in the Southern Brazilian rock scene and gained national recognition after finishing as finalists in the Rock in Rio 2 festival.

Throughout their career, the band released several notable albums, including their 1993 debut Outras Caras and 1996's A Lente Azul, which featured the hit single "Os Segundos" included in the soundtrack of the popular television series Malhação. They continued to evolve through the late 1990s and 2000s with projects like Spermatozoon and a celebrated live album recorded at the historic Theatro São Pedro, where they shared the stage with artists such as Humberto Gessinger. Tragically, the band faced profound losses with the death of original drummer Cau Hafner in 1999 and the passing of bassist Luciano Leindecker in 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Following Luciano's passing, frontman Duca Leindecker officially announced the end of the band's activities after a final charity performance in late 2014. During hiatus periods, Duca also collaborated with Humberto Gessinger in the acoustic project Pouca Vogal. Cidadão Quem remains deeply respected for their contributions to Brazilian rock, earning multiple Açorianos trophies and leaving an enduring legacy in Rio Grande do Sul and beyond.
