Biography

Luiza Trevisan, known artistically as Cinderela, was a Brazilian singer who began her career in 1942 at the age of 12, participating in talent shows on Radio Clube de Ribeirão Preto. Her move to São Paulo in 1951 marked a significant step, where she sang on Rádio Tupi and later on other major radio stations like Bandeirantes and Record. Her captivating performances in São Paulo's nightclubs, including the Hotel Excelsior, led to her nickname "Cinderela," given by singer Léo Albano, inspired by the Disney movie playing at the time. She also ventured into television, acting and working as a announcer for TV Paulista and TV Record.

Cinderela's recording career began in 1954 with Copacabana Discos. Her most significant hit came in 1958 with the rock-ballad "You Are My Destiny," released by RGE. She also recorded other notable songs such as "A sereia de biquini" and "Corre, Sansão." Her career included tours, such as one to Buenos Aires with the Juan Daniel Revue Company, and participation in the film "Vou te Contá." Despite her success, Cinderela decided to retire from her artistic career in 1962 after getting married, moving to the interior of Minas Gerais. Her brief but impactful career left a mark on Brazilian music during the 1950s and early 1960s.

Her story is reminiscent of many artists from the "Era do Rádio" (Radio Era) in Brazil, who transitioned from radio to television and recording, often facing challenges and making personal sacrifices for their art. Cinderela's decision to leave the spotlight for personal life highlights a common theme in the lives of female artists of that period.
