Biography

Claudia Telles was a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist born in Rio de Janeiro. She was the daughter of the renowned bossa nova pioneer Sylvia Telles and guitarist Candinho, stepping onto the stage at a very young age to perform alongside influential artists. Before launching her solo career, she worked extensively as a backing vocalist for numerous famous acts, including Roberto Carlos, Gilberto Gil, Rita Lee, and Jorge Ben, while also gaining experience as a crooner with Chiquinho do Acordeon's ensemble.

Her breakthrough came in 1976 with the massive success of the romantic single "Fim de Tarde", which sold over 500,000 copies and earned her a gold record. Following this triumph, she released her self-titled debut album in 1977, featuring enduring hits like "Eu Preciso Te Esquecer" and her rendition of Tom Jobim and Aloysio de Oliveira's "Dindi", a heartfelt tribute to her mother. Throughout her career, Telles navigated comparisons to Sylvia Telles while carving out a distinct artistic identity that ranged from samba and bolero to her preferred genre, bossa nova, culminating in later tribute albums dedicated to icons like Cartola, Nelson Cavaquinho, and Vinicius de Moraes.
