Biography

Cláudio Lacerda is a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist born in São Paulo who has built a solid artistic career in the interior of São Paulo state, notably in the region of Botucatu. His journey is marked by a deep immersion in and appreciation of caipira music and the viola, having three times won the prestigious National Award for Excellence in Caipira Viola in the best interpreter category. Throughout his musical path, Lacerda has collaborated with major icons of our culture and consolidated a body of work that moves with elegance between rural tradition and contemporary arrangements.

The artist made his recording debut with the album "Alma Lavada", released in 2003 with the participation of Renato Teixeira, opening doors for a series of acclaimed works. In his subsequent albums, such as "Alma Caipira" and the self-penned "Cantador", which featured the presence of Dominguinhos, the viola player paid tribute to masters of the genre and expanded his audience. Collaborative and conceptual projects also mark his biography, such as "Projeto 4 Cantos", formed alongside Rodrigo Zanc, Luiz Salgado, and Wilson Teixeira, and the ambitious project "ConSertão", which unites the caipira repertoire with orchestral arrangements under the direction of Neymar Dias.

His discography also includes widely acclaimed albums such as "Trilha Boiadeira" and "Canções para acordar o Sol", the latter featuring contributions from Rolando Boldrin and Mônica Salmaso to revisit MPB classics with a rural accent. In addition to his original work, Cláudio Lacerda has accumulated expressive guest appearances on albums by various viola players and composers, as well as awards such as the Grão de Música Award. Through his open-air concerts and tours through the Circuito Sesc de Artes, he remains one of the great defenders of caipira identity in contemporary Brazilian music.
