Biography

Claudio Nucci and Zé Renato formed a Brazilian musical duo that performed between 1984 and 1986. Both artists already had established careers in Brazilian popular music, having been co-founders of the renowned group Boca Livre in 1978, alongside Maurício Maestro and David Tygel. The partnership in "Boca Livre" yielded successful albums and cemented Nucci and Zé Renato's vocal and songwriting quality.

The album "Pelo sim, pelo não", released by the duo in 1985, was a milestone in their careers, standing out for the quality of its compositions and performances. Two songs from this record, "Pelo sim, pelo não" and "A hora e a vez", were part of the soundtrack of the soap opera "Roque Santeiro", broadcast by Rede Globo, which significantly expanded the duo's popular reach. In addition, they participated in the musical "Dança da meia-lua" and the LP "O corsário do rei".

Following the brief yet productive phase as a duo, Claudio Nucci and Zé Renato continued to pursue individual and collaborative paths in Brazilian music. In 1986, they traveled to Mexico for a series of concerts and, later that same year, formed Banda Zil with other musicians. Their musical partnership, however, transcends that phase, remaining strong over the years in projects and reunions, as evidenced by recent works celebrating their shared trajectories.
