Biography

Clemilda Ferreira da Silva was a prominent Brazilian singer celebrated as one of the greatest interpreters of forró, often referred to as the Queen of Forró. Born in Alagoas, she moved to Rio de Janeiro in the 1960s where she met her husband, the renowned accordionist Gerson Filho, marking the beginning of her musical journey in radio and recording. Alongside greats like Luiz Gonzaga and Marinês, she cemented her legacy in traditional northeastern Brazilian music.

Her career soared nationally in 1985 with the massive hit "Prenda o Tadeu," which earned her the first of two gold records, followed by "Forró Cheiroso" in 1987. Known for her witty and playful lyrical style known as "forró malícia," she became a staple of popular Brazilian television programs such as Clube do Bolinha and Cassino do Chacrinha. After spending decades performing and later hosting a television show in Sergipe, she left behind an enduring influence on the genre before passing away in 2014.
