Biography
Código Penal is a Brazilian rap and hip-hop group formed in Planaltina, in the Federal District, in 1990. The group emerged from street culture, initially composed of members who were part of street gangs. Over the years, the lineup has evolved, with the current core consisting of Nego Thalles, Ney Malloca, and Gambell.
Their musical journey began with performances at local events and parties. A significant early collaboration was with DJ Leandronik, who produced their tracks "Preste Atenção" and "A Procura de um Caminho" for his 1992 album "Leandronik do Gueto." This marked their first appearance on a recorded release. The group's debut album, "Vivemos como o Diabo Gosta e Ninguém se Liga," was released in 1996 by the Discovery label, featuring a mix of rap with electronic elements.
Código Penal is recognized for its socially conscious lyrics, which often convey positive messages and address issues of social awareness. Throughout their career, they have released several albums, including "Extrema-Unção (É Isso que Você Quer)" (2000), "Aí Bandido" (2003), and "A Maloca" (2008), solidifying their presence in the Brazilian hip-hop scene.
