Biography

Companhia Clic was a Brazilian band that emerged in Salvador, Bahia, active from 1988 to mid-1990. The group was a significant player in the burgeoning axé music and samba-reggae scene of the late 1980s. Their music blended energetic rhythms with distinctly Bahian influences, quickly gaining traction on local radio stations.

The band's initial lineup featured notable musicians, including Daniela Mercury, who would later achieve superstardom as a solo artist and become a prominent figure in Brazilian music. Other members included Sérgio Henrique, Jonga Cunha, Rudnei Monteiro, Raul Carlos Gomes, and Marcus Carlos Gomes Sampaio. Companhia Clic released two albums during their active period, with songs like "Pega que oh!" and "Ilha das Bananas" becoming regional hits.

After Daniela Mercury's departure to pursue her highly successful solo career, Carla Visi took over as the lead vocalist. The band continued to record, releasing further albums before eventually disbanding. Companhia Clic's legacy lies in its contribution to the early axé music movement and as a launching pad for one of Brazil's most iconic artists.
