Biography

Companhia do Pagode is a well-known Brazilian musical group formed in Salvador, Bahia, in 1994 by vocalist Diumbanda after his departure from Gera Samba. The band became a prominent fixture of the pagode baiano genre, achieving massive nationwide popularity and commercial success during the mid-1990s with their signature hit "Na Boquinha da Garrafa". Throughout their initial run, the group earned multiple certifications, including a platinum record for their album Na Dança do Striptease, and featured various notable members and dancers, such as Cláudia Leitte, who fronted the group before going on to form Babado Novo.

Over the years, the band experienced several lineup shifts and eventually disbanded in 2000, though founder Diumbanda later revived related musical projects like Bokinha da Garrafa. In 2022, Diumbanda officially resumed activities under the original banner alongside Negão Jamaica, returning to the scene with fresh releases. In 2024, they celebrated their legacy with the digital release of the EP Duplamente Original, keeping the lively rhythms of Bahian pagode alive alongside contemporaries like Gera Samba and Babado Novo.
