Biography

The band Comunidade Nin-Jitsu emerged in Porto Alegre in 1994, establishing itself as one of the pioneers in fusing rock, rap, funk carioca, and reggae on the Brazilian musical scene. The original group was formed by Fredi Endres, Nando Endres, Pancho da Cara, and Diogo, who adopted the stage name Mano Changes. Even before releasing their first studio album, the musicians were already known due to their proximity to big names of the era, such as Raimundos and Charlie Brown Jr., paving the way for the release of their debut album Broncas Legais in 1998, produced by Edu K and driven by the success of the track "Detetive".

Over the years, the band's trajectory was marked by highly acclaimed albums, lineup changes, and significant tours, including the praised record Maicou Douglas Syndrome and the album Atividade na Laje. The group also stood out for its strong stage presence, celebrated in live recordings such as the DVD recorded at the traditional Opinião bar in Porto Alegre, which featured special guest appearances by artists like Chorão and BNegão. In more recent works, such as King Kong Diamond and 25-year career celebrations, the band incorporated more mature approaches and new brass arrangements, keeping their irreverent essence alive.

The influence of Comunidade Nin-Jitsu expanded through partnerships with various exponents of national music and notable collaborations with names such as Tonho Crocco, Tati Portella, Lucas Silveira, and Dado Villa-Lobos. The group's unique sonic identity, combining heavy guitars with danceable beats and humorous lyrics, secured a prominent place in the history of alternative rock and independent music in Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil.
