Biography

Condutores de Cadáver emerged from the vibrant São Paulo punk scene in 1979, quickly establishing themselves as one of Brazil's pioneering punk rock bands. Formed in the Tremembé district, the band's early days were marked by a raw, confrontational energy, aiming to shock audiences with provocative lyrics and performances. Their sound was a direct reflection of the burgeoning punk movement in Brazil, characterized by its aggressive instrumentation and rebellious spirit.

The band's initial lineup featured Callegari on guitar, Índio on vocals, Hélio on bass, and Nelsinho "Teco Teco" on drums. After a brief period, Hélio was replaced by Clemente, who would later go on to form the influential band Inocentes with Callegari. Hélio himself would join forces with Redson Pozzi to form Cólera, another seminal Brazilian punk act. This period of flux and collaboration highlights the interconnectedness of the early Brazilian punk underground.

Condutores de Cadáver disbanded in 1981, but their legacy endured through the subsequent projects of its members. The band experienced a reunion in 2001, performing at the "A Um Passo do Fim do Mundo" punk festival and releasing a vinyl EP. Although their active period was short, Condutores de Cadáver left an indelible mark on Brazilian punk rock, influencing subsequent generations of musicians with their uncompromising attitude and fierce sound.
