Biography
Cordel do Fogo Encantado is a Brazilian musical group that originated in 1997 in the city of Arcoverde, Pernambuco. Initially conceived as a theatrical poetry performance, the project gradually evolved into a musical ensemble with the addition of percussionists and extensive touring throughout Brazil's interior and capital cities like Recife.
In 2001, the band released their self-titled debut album with production by renowned percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, followed by critically acclaimed works such as O Palhaço do Circo sem Futuro and Transfiguração. Their distinct sound, deeply rooted in northeastern folklore and intense percussion, gained international recognition and led to performances in Europe as well as contributions to film soundtracks alongside artists like Cacá Diegues.
After a hiatus triggered by the departure of vocalist Lirinha in 2010, the original lineup triumphantly returned in 2018 with the release of Viagem ao Coração do Sol. This comeback album earned widespread critical acclaim, cementing the group's enduring legacy in Brazilian popular and regional music alongside contemporaries like Nação Zumbi and Lenine.
