Gustavo Vinicius Gomes de Sousa, known professionally as Coruja BC1, is a Brazilian rapper and musician born on June 3, 1994, in Osasco, São Paulo. His musical journey began at a young age, influenced by his grandfather who gifted him a pandeiro and cavaquinho at four years old. This early exposure to music, particularly the Northeastern Brazilian genre of 'repente,' laid the foundation for his artistic expression. By the age of eight, after moving to Bauru, São Paulo, he earned the nickname 'Coruja' (owl).

During his adolescence, Coruja BC1 was part of the breakdance crew BreakMonsters Crew, immersing himself in hip-hop culture. At 16, he decided to fully commit to music, focusing on writing his own lyrics and beats. This period marked the evolution into Coruja BC1, a name reflecting his street origins and his pursuit of knowledge. His music is characterized by a blend of rap, repente, and jazz, delivering strong messages with sagacity and depth, often reflecting on the daily life of the periphery, positivity, and personal growth.

Coruja BC1 has released several notable works throughout his career. His debut album, "A Voz do Coração," was released in 2014, followed by "No Dia dos Nossos" in 2017, which featured collaborations with prominent artists like Emicida and Rael. In 2019, he released "Psicodelic," and in 2021, "Brasil Futurista," an album that explored a diverse range of Brazilian rhythms beyond rap, including MPB, trap, soul, house, maracatu, samba, and rock.
