Biography

CPM 22 is a Brazilian melodic hardcore and punk rock band formed in Barueri, São Paulo, in 1995. The group gained national prominence in the early 2000s, standing out as one of the main names of the genre to achieve commercial success in the Brazilian mainstream, earning gold records and opening doors for a new generation of rock bands in the country. The current lineup features Badauí on vocals, Luciano Garcia and Phil Fargnoli on guitars, Ali Zaher Jr. on bass, and Daniel Siqueira on drums.

Throughout their career, the group has released landmark albums such as Chegou a Hora de Recomeçar and Felicidade Instantânea, landing hits on radio stations and the soundtracks of soap operas and television series. In 2008, the band achieved international recognition by winning the Latin Grammy for Best Brazilian Rock Album with the record Cidade Cinza. The group has also stood out for its strong presence in major festivals and special projects, including live recordings such as CPM 22 Acústico — which featured a guest appearance by Dinho Ouro Preto — and a commemorative show at Rock in Rio.

Remaining active for decades, the band has continued to renew its sound and collaborate with other major names in the national scene, such as their partnership with Sérgio Britto on the single "Tudo Vale a Pena?". Even while rejecting commercial labels and keeping their roots firmly planted in traditional punk rock, CPM 22 has consolidated a lasting legacy in Brazilian music, influencing various branches of independent and underground rock.
