Biography

Craveiro & Cravinho is a sertanejo duo formed by brothers Sebastião Franco (Craveiro) and João Franco (Cravinho), born in Pederneiras, in the interior of São Paulo. Sons of the viola player Josué Franco, the duo started singing as children at farm parties near their hometown, absorbing the rich caipira culture. In the late 1940s, they decided to formalize their musical partnership.

In 1958, the duo joined Rádio Difusora de Piracicaba, where they performed for almost 20 years, becoming audience leaders and consolidating their presence in the music scene. Producer Teddy Vieira took them to São Paulo, where, in 1962, they recorded their first album with the Sertanejo label. Throughout their career, they released several records, including LPs and CDs, and were mentored by another sertanejo music legend, Tonico & Tinoco.

The trajectory of Craveiro & Cravinho is marked by family continuity in sertanejo music. Craveiro is the father of the duos Cezar & Paulinho and Ed & Fábio Cezar, while Cravinho is the uncle of Cezar & Paulinho. This musical lineage demonstrates the duo's deep influence and legacy in the preservation and evolution of traditional Brazilian root sertanejo music.
