Biography

Crônica Mendes is a prominent Brazilian rapper and poet, born in Candiba, Bahia, but who emerged from the urban landscape of Hortolândia, São Paulo. His artistic journey began in the 1990s, initially as part of the group GOG, and later as a co-founder of A Família. He gained national recognition around 2004, establishing himself as a voice from the periphery, known for his poetic and socially conscious lyrics.

Mendes's music is characterized by a pluralistic approach, blending hip-hop with influences from MPB, indie, pop rock, pop, and R&B. This fusion creates a unique sonic identity, enriched by his literary background. He is celebrated for his energetic stage presence and his ability to weave diverse musical languages into his rap. Over his career, Crônica Mendes has collaborated with a wide array of notable Brazilian artists, including Racionais MC's' Edi Rock, MV Bill, Rashid, and Fernando Anitelli, among many others.

He has released several studio albums, compilations, and live albums, receiving accolades such as Best Single and Best Album of the Year at the 5º Elemento Hip Hop awards. In 2024, he released his album "Mais de Uma Tribo" in Atmos format, showcasing his commitment to evolving with music technology.
