Biography
CSS, an acronym for "Cansei de Ser Sexy", is a Brazilian electronic rock band formed in São Paulo in 2003. The group quickly gained international notoriety, being labeled as part of the explosion of the late 2000s new rave scene. With a sound that mixes indie rock, new wave, and dance-punk, CSS stood out for its lyrics in Portuguese and English, which helped attract a diverse audience and achieve positions on important music charts, such as the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The band is considered one of the most successful international Brazilian acts in history.
The original and best-known lineup of CSS included Lovefoxxx (vocals), Luiza Sá (guitar and keyboard), Ana Rezende (guitar, keyboard, and harmonica), Carolina Parra (guitar and drums), Iracema Trevisan (bass), and Adriano Cintra (bass and production). Throughout its career, the band released four studio albums: "Cansei de Ser Sexy" (2005), "Donkey" (2008), "La Liberación" (2011), and "Planta" (2013). The album "Donkey" (2008) reached the Billboard Top 100, consolidating the group's presence on the global music scene.
In 2011, Adriano Cintra left the band, which led to a hiatus between 2013 and 2019. CSS returned in 2019, without Cintra, and resumed their full-time activities, continuing to captivate new generations of fans, including with hits that went viral on platforms like TikTok. The band is recognized for its contagious energy in concerts, which mix elements of a party, circus, and chaos, reflecting the joy and carefree attitude that marked their sound.
