Biography

Da Melhor Qualidade is a pagode group formed in Santos, São Paulo, in 1992. Initially, it was an informal gathering of friends who played samba music by their favorite artists like Martinho da Vila, Beth Carvalho, João Nogueira, Zeca Pagodinho, and Fundo de Quintal. These samba sessions took place in family homes and friends' places, and even at a beachside barraca. The group's name, "Da Melhor Qualidade" (Of the Best Quality), was inspired by a Beth Carvalho song of the same name, which was frequently played by the members.

Over time, their informal jams evolved into more formal performances in nightclubs. Beth Carvalho herself became a godmother to the group, and they also had Arlindo Cruz and Sombrinha as godfathers. Their discography includes albums like "Universo de Prazer" (1999), "Da Melhor Qualidade" (2001), and "Quando o Samba é Samba" (2002). Their music often features collaborations with renowned artists in the Brazilian samba and pagode scene, reflecting their deep roots in the genre.

Da Melhor Qualidade has also seen some of its members' compositions recorded by other artists, such as the song "Decisão" by Karametade. The group's commitment to traditional samba and pagode, combined with their collaborations and original compositions, has solidified their place in Brazilian popular music.
