Biography

Daltony Nóbrega was a multifaceted Brazilian artist, born in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, on July 27, 1948. The son of poet and historian Dormevilly Nóbrega, Daltony demonstrated a strong connection to the arts from an early age. His professional career began in 1966 with Grupo Mineiro, a vocal ensemble that participated in several festivals, both in Brazil and abroad, including the renowned Viña del Mar Festival in Chile. The group also performed alongside artists such as Beth Carvalho and Marlene.

In the 1970s, Daltony Nóbrega began his solo career and had his compositions recorded by major names in Brazilian popular music, such as Eliana Pittman, Evinha, Cláudia, Trio Mocotó, Célia, Simone, and Roberto Ribeiro. He also stood out as a musical director in television networks like Rede Globo and Rede Bandeirantes, creating memorable soundtracks and children's specials such as "Plunct Plact Zum" and "Pirlimpimpim". His own discography includes LPs such as "Bate-boca" (1981) and "Cirrose" (1983).

Throughout his career, Daltony Nóbrega collaborated with various artists and composers, among them Carlos Lyra, Artur da Távola, and Moreira da Silva. His works were interpreted by a wide range of talents, including Ney Matogrosso, João Bosco, Vanusa, and Zezé Motta. Daltony Nóbrega passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving a significant legacy in Brazilian popular music and the country's television culture.
