Biography

Damares Alves Bezerra de Oliveira, known artistically simply as Damares, was born in Umuarama, in the state of Paraná, on January 30, 1980. Raised in a Christian home and coming from a family with strong northeastern roots, she began her journey in sacred music modestly, releasing her first albums in the early 2000s. Her national consecration occurred with the release of her sixth studio album, Apocalipse, which propelled the resounding success of the song "Sabor de Mel" and earned her widespread recognition in the Brazilian gospel scene.

Throughout her career, the singer stood out in the pentecostal movement and achieved impressive record sales, receiving diamond and platinum certifications, as well as important awards such as the Troféu Talento and Troféu Promessas. Damares also expanded her ministry through international tours and special projects, recording works in partnership with major names in Christian music such as Cassiane, Elaine de Jesus, and Lauriete.

In addition to her artistic work, Damares is the founder of the Saravida Welfare Society and engages in social causes, having received relevant honorary titles, such as Ambassador of Peace and Carioca Citizenship. With landmark albums like Diamante and O Maior Troféu, she consolidated her name among the best-selling artists in Brazil, featuring prominently on official lists of the phonographic industry.
