Biography

Born in Brotas, in the countryside of São Paulo, José Daniel Camillo began his musical journey in childhood by learning to play the acoustic guitar and performing at regional sertaneja music festivals. It was on one of these occasions that he met João Paulo, with whom he formed the legendary duo João Paulo & Daniel in 1980. The duo achieved national recognition in the 1990s with remarkable hits, including prominent cover versions like "Estou Apaixonado", until their shared journey was tragically interrupted by João Paulo's death in a car accident in 1997.

After overcoming the severe emotional shock and considering quitting his career, Daniel debuted as a solo artist in 1998 with a self-titled album that brought him great visibility and a diamond record. Moving easily between romantic sertanejo and traditional roots sertanejo, he consolidated one of the most popular voices in the country, accumulating millions of records sold and prestigious awards, such as the Latin Grammy. Beyond music, he expanded his artistic work into film and television, starring in productions like the movie O Menino da Porteira and acting as a coach on talent shows like The Voice Brasil.

Throughout his career, Daniel also stood out for his strong involvement in social causes, acting for years as the patron of Teleton and AACD, in addition to leading charitable initiatives. Established as the "Prince" of sertanejo music for his kind and attentive demeanor, he maintains a solid legacy that unites the genre's tradition with a versatile career as a singer, actor, and television host. His work dialogues with that of several icons of Brazilian culture, such as Xuxa and Renato Aragão, in addition to partnerships with great songwriters like Peninha.
