Biography
Daniel Torres is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Santa Vitória do Palmar, Rio Grande do Sul. His musical journey is marked by a strong Latin American identity, reflecting his origins: the son of a Chilean father and an Argentine mother, he was born in a circus and grew up in Uruguay, learning to read and write in Spanish. He returned to Rio Grande do Sul in his adolescence, where he began learning Portuguese and delving deeper into music.
His professional music career began in 1983 in Porto Alegre, where he sang a Latin American romantic repertoire. He was discovered by singer Leopoldo Rassier, who invited him to join a musical group that would later become MusiCanto. From then on, Daniel Torres established himself as an exponent of gaucho nativist and South American music, actively participating in festivals and collecting more than 50 "Best Performer" awards.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Daniel Torres has released eight CDs, two of them in Spanish, and is recognized as a representative of Mercosur's musical integration. His work moves between gaucho nativism and South American music, with songs that celebrate the region's culture and diversity. He has represented Rio Grande /Sul in international festivals in several countries, taking pampas music to the world.
