Biography
André Palmeira Cunha, widely known as Dé Palmeira, is an influential Brazilian bassist, composer, and music producer. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began his professional career in his teens as a founding member of the original lineup of Barão Vermelho. Alongside names like Cazuza and Frejat, he participated in historic moments of national rock, including the first edition of Rock in Rio in 1985 and the recording of fundamental albums from the 1980s.
In addition to his performance as an instrumentalist, Dé consolidated himself as a talented songwriter, co-authoring classics like "Pense e Dance" and the acclaimed "Preciso Dizer que te Amo", the latter written in partnership with Cazuza and Bebel Gilberto. After leaving Barão Vermelho in 1990, he expanded his work into music production and direction, collaborating closely with artists such as Adriana Calcanhotto and Lobão, in addition to joining the supergroup Panamericana.
Currently, his career oscillates between music and television, where he works on the music production of the TV show "Conversa com Bial". With a trajectory that crosses different aspects of rock and MPB, Dé Palmeira is recognized for his technical versatility and his contribution to shaping the sound of contemporary Brazilian pop-rock.
