Biography

Daniel Azevedo da Cruz, known artistically as Delacruz, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and rapper born in Vigário Geral, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro. His musical career began around the age of 11, when he formed a funk group, and at 14, he founded his first band. He began working professionally as a singer at 15, performing in bars and parties around the city. His trajectory is marked by the fusion of genres such as rap, R&B, neo soul, and MPB, with lyrics that address romantic themes and reflections on life.

Delacruz gained national notoriety in 2017, at the age of 19, by participating in the project "Poesia Acústica #2" by the Pineapple Storm channel, with the song "Sobre Nós". The song's success propelled him toward a prominent career, culminating in the track's inclusion in the soundtrack of Rede Globo's telenovela "O Sétimo Guardião" in 2018. Throughout his journey, he has released EPs such as "Nonsense Vol. 1" and "Nonsense Vol. 2", in addition to albums like "Show Case" and "Vinho", the latter in 2024, which explores a more mature sound and reflects on his career. He has collaborated with several renowned artists, such as IZA, MC Cabelinho, Gaab, Lukinhas, Ludmilla, Djonga, Filipe Ret, and MC Marcinho, demonstrating his versatility and reach in the Brazilian music scene.

With a consolidated career, Delacruz has performed at major festivals, such as Rock in Rio, and recorded his first DVD in 2025. His music is recognized for its ability to transition between different styles while maintaining a strong and emotional lyrical identity. He is frequently associated with artists like Filipe Ret, Luccas Carlos, and Gaab, who also explore the fusion of genres and address similar themes in their works, establishing himself as one of the important names of the new generation of Brazilian music.
