Biography

Alexandre Salgus M. Costa, widely known as Dengue, is a prominent Brazilian musician, best recognized as a founding bassist and member of the influential band Nação Zumbi.

Born in Recife, Pernambuco, Dengue has been an integral part of Nação Zumbi since its inception, contributing significantly to the band's unique sound that blends regional rhythms with rock and electronic elements. His involvement with Nação Zumbi places him at the forefront of the Manguebeat movement, a cultural and musical phenomenon that emerged in Recife in the early 1990s.

Beyond his work with Nação Zumbi, Dengue is also a member of the instrumental band "Praia do Futuro," formed with fellow musicians Catatau and Yuri Kalil. He has collaborated with various notable artists, including Marisa Monte, 3 na massa, and BNegão. In 2020, Dengue launched his solo career with the release of "A VOLTA DE SOTURNOI II," showcasing his individual artistic vision.
