Biography

Detrito Federal is a Brazilian punk rock band formed in 1983 in the city of Brasília. The group emerged from the union of musicians connected to the federal capital's nascent independent scene, going through various line-ups and experimenting with genres such as new wave throughout their trajectory, before returning to their punk rock roots in the following decades.

Throughout its history, the band has shared spaces and stages with important exponents of national rock that emerged in Brasília, such as Legião Urbana, Plebe Rude and Capital Inicial. The group also collaborated and interacted with fundamental figures of Brazilian music, having even received an unreleased lyric from singer Renato Russo and relying on the production of Charles Gavin for their debut album released by PolyGram, Vítimas do Milagre, in 1987.

With comings and goings, member changes and moments of hiatus, Detrito Federal established itself as one of the historical names of the Brasília punk scene, remaining active in festivals and releasing phonographic records such as the album 1983 and, later, Eu Ainda Uso Coturno. The band remains a cultural reference for punk rock in the Distrito Federal, influencing generations of the national underground.
