Biography

Di Paullo & Paulino is a Brazilian sertanejo duo formed by brothers Elias Antônio de Paula (Di Paullo) and Geraldo Aparecido de Paula (Paulino). Born in Martinho Campos, Minas Gerais, the duo began their professional career in the early 1970s, performing in circuses across the state. They grew up listening to sertanejo music, influenced by their father, who owned a collection of instruments, and taught themselves how to play.

At a time when sertanejo music still faced a certain isolation in big cities, Di Paullo & Paulino managed to release one record a year between 1973 and 1975. Starting in 1976, the duo expanded their activities to Goiás, participating in agricultural exhibitions and countryside festivals, as well as becoming regular acts on the show "Onde Cantam os Campeões", which discovered several sertanejo talents. Success was solidified with songs like "Passarinho do Sertão", released in 1987.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the duo expanded their recognition nationwide, especially in the Central-West and North regions. Albums like "Presente de Natal" and "Onde Anda Você" strengthened their market presence. In 2002, they released their first live album, "Só Modão", which included hits like "Amor de Primavera" and "Onde Anda Você", alongside new recordings of sertanejo classics. Their partnership with Marília Mendonça on the song "Estrelinha" generated millions of views and major repercussions.

Di Paullo & Paulino are recognized for maintaining the essence of traditional sertanejo music, with lyrics that tell stories of the countryside and the daily life of the Brazilian man. Their discography features over 25 albums, including works like "O Coração Chora" (2004), "Hora Certa" (2007) and "Nós e Elas" (2018). In 2023, they celebrated 50 years of career, consolidating themselves as one of the most traditional and respected names in sertanejo music in Brazil.
