Biography

Diante do Trono, often abbreviated as DT, is one of the most prominent contemporary Christian and congregational music groups in Brazil. Founded in 1997 at the Igreja Batista da Lagoinha in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, the band was established by Pastor Márcio Valadão, his daughter Ana Paula Valadão, and maestro Sérgio Gomes. Over the decades, they achieved unprecedented international acclaim, becoming the largest worship ministry in Latin America and selling over 15 million albums.

Throughout their history, the group underwent several musical and structural transformations, moving from a dense brass orchestra arrangement in their early years to a congregational pop rock style. They set historic attendance records in Brazil, notably gathering over two million people at Campo de Marte airport in São Paulo in 2003. Their extensive discography includes successful projects such as Águas Purificadoras and Preciso de Ti, alongside the children's spin-off Crianças Diante do Trono. The group has also been deeply involved in social and missionary initiatives, such as combating human trafficking through Project India, and received multiple accolades including a Latin Grammy nomination in 2012 for the album Sol da Justiça.

In addition to Ana Paula Valadão, the ministry has featured numerous notable members and collaborators over the years, including Nívea Soares, André Valadão, Mariana Valadão, and Helena Tannure. The collective remains a foundational pillar of Brazilian gospel music, hosting massive annual congresses and expanding its presence internationally with projects recorded in countries like Israel and the United States.
