Dida da Portela, born April 14, 1940, is a Brazilian samba singer, songwriter, and percussionist. His career is deeply intertwined with the iconic samba school G.R.E.S. Portela, where he has been an active member and contributor. Dida's musical journey began in the early 1960s, with his first known composition, "Fim de Carnaval," recorded in 1963. He has since penned over 50 songs, many of which have been recorded by prominent artists in Brazilian popular music.

Throughout his career, Dida has collaborated with numerous artists and samba schools. He was part of the group "Os Autênticos" and later with "Grupo Nossa Gente," recording LPs and performing in various Brazilian cities. His compositions have been featured in albums by renowned singers such as Elza Soares, Beth Carvalho, and Alcione, solidifying his reputation as a prolific songwriter within the samba genre. His work often reflects the rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit of samba.

Dida da Portela's contributions extend to samba-enredos, the musical themes for samba school parades. He co-authored "Ai que saudade que eu tenho," which was performed by Unidos de Vila Isabel in 1977, achieving a respectable fifth place in the competition.
