Biography

Diógenes Burani Filho was a drummer from São Paulo who made his mark on the Brazilian progressive rock scene in the 1970s. Born on February 10, 1948, in São Paulo, Burani began his musical journey in the late 1960s, joining groups such as Os Malukos and O Bando, the latter with a notorious psychedelic album released in 1969.

His career gained prominence when he became the drummer for the band Moto Perpétuo, formed in 1973. Alongside Guilherme Arantes, Egídio Conde, Gerson Tatini, and Cláudio Lucci, Burani participated in the recording of the group's self-titled album in 1974, a milestone of national progressive rock with Brazilian influences. After the end of Moto Perpétuo in 1975, Diógenes Burani continued his musical journey, playing in the group São Quixote in the 1980s and developing projects in his studio "DB Terra - Música & Cultura".

In addition to his work with Moto Perpétuo and São Quixote, Diógenes Burani also participated in other projects and collaborated with various artists. His work as a drummer and versatile musician contributed to the rich tapestry of Brazilian music, especially in the progressive rock genre. Diógenes Burani passed away on April 14, 2017, at the age of 69, as a victim of a postoperative infection.
