Biography

DJ Marky, the stage name of Marco Antonio da Silva, was born in São Paulo on June 14, 1973. He began his musical journey playing in nightclubs on the outskirts of São Paulo under the pseudonym DJ Marky Mark, initially adopted before being changed to avoid confusion with the American actor. His notoriety increased significantly in the early 1990s while working as a resident DJ at important nightclubs in São Paulo, such as Sound Factory and Toco Dance Club. Working in a record store in the city center, he gained access to imported productions, becoming one of the pioneers of electronic music in the country and a fundamental reference for Brazilian jungle and drum'n'bass.

DJ Marky's international recognition came after he was discovered by English DJ Bryan Gee in São Paulo in 1998, which led him to perform in London and win over British critics, being voted breakthrough DJ of the year in 1999. Throughout his career, he conceived memorable parties like Vibe, held at Lov.e Club & Lounge, in addition to collaborating with various artists from the electronic scene, including partnerships with Bungle, XRS Land, and DJ Andy. His technical skill on the turntables, precise mixings, and refined selections consolidated his global reputation, with prominent releases such as the record Workin' the Mix and albums through the Innerground Records label.

In addition to his productions and international tours in countries like Canada, the Netherlands, and Ireland, DJ Marky also left his mark on pop culture by having tracks integrated into video game soundtracks, such as the song "LK" in MTV Music Generator 3 and contributions to FIFA Street 2. He continued to expand his legacy with projects aimed at valuing his musical roots, maintaining residencies at renowned parties in São Paulo and releasing acclaimed works like My Heroes and The Time Is Right.
