Biography

Marcello Mansur, widely known as DJ Memê, is a prominent Brazilian DJ and music producer born in Rio de Janeiro. Developing an early passion for music during his childhood, he began experimenting as a DJ in the 1970s, playing underground disco and later pioneering the house music scene in Brazil. Over the decades, he established himself as a radio broadcaster and a key figure in introducing professional remixing techniques to the country, founding the first Brazilian DJ school alongside Iraí Campos.

Throughout his career, Memê has collaborated with numerous icons of Brazilian popular music, producing major hit albums for artists such as Lulu Santos, Gabriel o Pensador, Tim Maia, and Jorge Vercilo. His partnership with Lulu Santos on the album Assim Caminha a Humanidade and the remix collection Eu e Memê, Memê e Eu achieved massive commercial success. In addition to his national acclaim, he gained international recognition by producing remixes for global stars like Shakira and topping the Billboard Hot Dance chart with his remix of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance".

As a driving force in electronic music, DJ Memê has released tracks through renowned international labels such as Defected and Soulfuric, while continuing to tour extensively across Europe and Asia. He also launched his own label, MeMix, to support new house and dance music talent in Brazil. Recognized with numerous certifications including gold, platinum, and diamond records, Memê remains an influential pillar of electronic and pop production in Brazilian musical history.
