Biography

Wagner Ribeiro de Souza, artistically known as DJ Patife, was born in São Paulo on September 15, 1976. His journey in electronic music began in the late 1980s, influenced by hip hop and, later, by drum'n'bass. Patife is recognized for his ability to blend drum'n'bass beats with elements of Brazilian music, such as samba and bossa nova, creating a unique sound that launched him internationally. He is considered one of the pioneers and ambassadors of drum'n'bass in Brazil.

His DJ career began in 1995 as a resident at the Arena Music Hall nightclub in São Paulo. In 1997, he took his first trip to Europe, where he had closer contact with the British drum'n'bass scene. Upon returning to Brazil, he began hosting the Bassline show on Energia 97 radio in 1999. The year 2000 marked the release of his first album, "Sounds Of Drum'n'bass", which received praise from specialized magazines in the United Kingdom, such as Muzik and MixMag, opening doors for his international career.

Throughout his career, DJ Patife has collaborated with various Brazilian and international artists, including Fernanda Porto, Max de Castro, XRS Land, Roni Size, and John B. His discography features albums such as "Cool Steps - Drum'n'bass Grooves" (2001) and "Na Estrada" (2006), in addition to countless compilations and remixes.
