Biography

Dodô e Osmar was a pioneering duo in Brazilian music, famous for creating the trio elétrico alongside Temístocles Aragão during the 1950 Salvador Carnival. Utilizing a 1929 Ford and electric instruments they developed themselves, the duo revolutionized street festivities in Bahia and laid the foundations for the development of axé music and modern Carnival revelry. The cultural importance of the project gained even greater national projection when artists like Caetano Veloso recorded iconic songs like Atrás do Trio Elétrico.

Over the years, the project evolved into a consolidated musical group that featured the participation of Osmar Macedo's children, led by the virtuoso guitarist Armandinho, as well as memorable stints by names like Moraes Moreira. The group recorded an expressive discography with striking albums for Continental, WEA, RCA Victor, and Som Livre, scoring unforgettable hits like Chame Gente. Even after the passing of Dodô in 1978 and Osmar in 1997, the duo's legacy continued to influence generations and soundtrack carnivals under the moniker Armandinho, Dodô & Osmar.
