Biography

Antônio Domiciano, widely known as Domiciano, is a Brazilian composer celebrated for his contributions to sertanejo music. Born in Itirapuã, in the interior of São Paulo, he later settled in Franca, where he established his life and career as a songwriter. Before dedicating himself fully to music, Domiciano worked as a postman, a profession that perhaps fueled his poetic observations and storytelling abilities, which are evident in his lyrics.

Domiciano's musical journey is deeply intertwined with the sounds of forró and sertanejo. His compositions often evoke the atmosphere of traditional Brazilian gatherings, with instruments like the accordion, viola, and guitar playing a significant role in shaping the sonic landscape of his work. He has achieved national recognition for his songs, which have been recorded by prominent sertanejo duos.

His prolific songwriting has resulted in numerous hits that have resonated with audiences across Brazil. Among his notable collaborations and compositions are "Massa Falida" (recorded by Duduca & Dalvan), "Amante Anônimo" (recorded by Gian & Giovani), and a long list of songs co-written with Rionegro, such as "Brete da solidão," "Como esquecer um amor," and "Enlouquecer de paixão." Domiciano's ability to craft relatable narratives and memorable melodies has solidified his place as a respected figure in Brazilian popular music.
