Biography

Domingos Pecci was a Brazilian composer, saxophonist, and clarinetist of Italian descent who made a significant mark on the São Paulo choro scene. Born around 1910 in São Paulo, he developed a respected career as an instrumentalist, particularly within the choro genre.

Pecci's musical output includes numerous compositions, primarily choros and waltzes. He recorded extensively throughout his career, with notable releases in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. His compositions, such as "Nair," "Nenê," "Luar do Sumaré," and "De cachimbo," were recorded by himself and other artists. His waltz "Jovina" was notably recorded by the renowned Jacob do Bandolim in 1956.

Beyond his performance and composition work, Domingos Pecci also contributed to music education. He published a method for clarinet, which included exercises on embouchure, reading notes, and basic music theory. His pedagogical contributions, along with his instrumental and compositional legacy, solidify his place as an important figure in Brazilian instrumental music.
