Biography

Dora Tapajós Gomes, known artistically as Dorinha Tapajós, was born in Rio de Janeiro on September 2, 1950. The daughter of the renowned radio broadcaster and composer Paulo Tapajós and sister of Maurício Tapajós and Paulinho Tapajós, she grew up immersed in an environment of intense artistic activity, which naturally directed her steps towards Brazilian popular music.

Throughout her career, Dorinha stood out not only in her solo career, but also for being part of important vocal groups in national music. She was part of notable groups such as Turma da Pilantragem, Umas e Outras, and the acclaimed Quarteto em Cy, with which she recorded several albums of historical relevance to MPB.

Her untimely passing occurred on August 17, 1989, at the age of 38, as a victim of complications arising from septicemia. Despite her short life, Dorinha Tapajós left an expressive legacy in Brazilian vocal interpretation, sharing studios and stages with great names of the era.
