Biography

Dr. Sin is a renowned Brazilian hard rock band formed in São Paulo in 1991, conceived by brothers Andria Busic (vocals and bass) and Ivan Busic (drums), and currently featuring guitarist Thiago Melo. Before consolidating the project that brought them national and international recognition, the brothers were members of important groups in the São Paulo scene, such as Platina and Cherokee, in addition to working as backing musicians for Wander Taffo and Supla. The original trio featured virtuoso guitarist Edu Ardanuy, whose instrumental skill deeply shaped the group's classic sound.

Over more than three decades on the road, Dr. Sin has built a solid discography and earned great prestige, opening for international rock and metal legends such as AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Pantera, Dream Theater, and Yngwie Malmsteen. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1993 by Warner Music, received an excellent response and landed hits like "Emotional Catastrophe," which was part of the soundtrack for the television series Confissões de Adolescente. The group also stood out for important charity work, such as the "Dr. Sin's Help" project, aimed at supporting children with cancer, demonstrating strong social engagement alongside their musical relevance within the national rock scene, where they shared stages and moments with artists like Supla, Edu Falaschi, and Rafael Bittencourt.

The band's career has been marked by strategic hiatuses, farewell tours, and line-up changes, including notable stints by American vocalist Mike Vescera and contributions from musicians such as Marcelo Souss and Joey Gross Brown. In 2018, following a brief period of inactivity and the parallel project Busic, Andria and Ivan resumed Dr. Sin's activities alongside Thiago Melo, culminating in releases like the album Back Home Again and a commemorative acoustic project recorded at the Teatro J. Safra. Even with new announcements of a hiatus at the end of 2024, Dr. Sin's legacy remains one of the most technical and expressive pillars of Brazilian hard rock.
