Biography

Drumagick is a Brazilian musical project formed by brothers Jr.Deep (born 1977) and Guilherme Lopes (born 1981), both drum and bass DJs and producers originally from São Paulo. Since their formation in 1996, the duo has become a benchmark in the national and international electronic scene, known for their unique fusion of broken beats with elements of Brazilian music, such as samba and bossa nova, creating a style that became known as "sambass" or "Brazilian drum and bass".

The Lopes brothers were exposed to electronic music early on, influenced by artists such as Ray Conniff, The Beatles, Ed Rush, and DJ Hype. Guilherme started DJing at age 12, and Jr.Deep, following a childhood accident, dedicated himself to listening to the radio and deepening his interest in electronic music. This passion led them to create Drumagick, which quickly gained prominence with releases on renowned labels such as Trama Records, Sony Music, V Recordings, and Tru Thoughts. Tracks like "Easy Boom," which samples Jorge Ben Jor, and "Malandragem" became anthems of the genre and opened doors for international tours and global recognition.

In addition to their music production, Drumagick also stood out for their work in live bands and the creation of educational projects, such as the Hangar 15 DJ and producer school and Beatmasters. Their influence extends to artists like DJ Marky, DJ Patife, and XRS, who were also pioneers in spreading Brazilian drum and bass around the world. Even with market fluctuations, Drumagick remains active, producing and exploring new sounds, maintaining itself as a vital force in Brazilian electronic music.
