Biography

Duani Martins, artistically known as Duani, is a renowned Brazilian composer, musical producer, and multi-instrumentalist, born on June 22, 1978, in Rio de Janeiro. Since childhood, he demonstrated an exceptional talent for music, receiving his first cavaquinho at age four and winning school festivals with his own compositions while still a teenager. His musical career received a significant boost when, at age ten, he was invited by singer Alcione to join the percussion section of "Mangueira do Amanhã," the children's samba school of Estação Primeira de Mangueira. This early experience put him in contact with major names in Brazilian music, such as Gilberto Gil, with whom he shared the stage at "ECO 92."

In 1994, Duani founded the group Forroçacana, which stood out for innovating by incorporating instruments like the rabeca and zither into traditional forró, releasing five albums in twelve years of activity. After leaving the group, Duani established himself as one of the most sought-after musical producers in the country, collaborating with a wide range of artists from diverse genres, including Seu Jorge, Zeca Baleiro, Jorge Ben Jor, Alceu Valença, Lenine, Tulipa Ruiz, Céu, Mariana Aydar, Elba Ramalho, Marcelo D2, and Moraes Moreira. His versatility and musical vision also led him to produce international artists, such as Afrika Bambaataa.

In addition to his work as a producer and musician, Duani is also recognized for his solo career and partnerships with other artists. He is married to singer-songwriter Mariana Aydar, with whom he frequently collaborates on musical projects. His influence on contemporary Brazilian music is undeniable, being considered a "music man" by MTV and a bridge between musical tradition and modernity.
