Biography
Eduarda Bittencourt Simões, artistically known as Duda Beat, was born in Recife, Pernambuco, on October 8, 1987. She adopted the artistic surname "Beat" as a tribute to the manguebeat countercultural movement. She moved to Rio de Janeiro in her youth, where she initially pursued a career in medicine before graduating in political science from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro. In the Rio scene, she grew closer to indie artists such as Castello Branco and Letrux, working as a backing vocal before consolidating her own artistic trajectory.
Her recording debut took place in 2018 with the acclaimed independent album Sinto Muito, produced by Tomás Tróia. The work coined the term "sofrência pop", blending traditional brega with contemporary sounds and indie elements, which earned Duda the APCA trophy for breakthrough artist and recognition on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the best albums of the year with hits like "Bixinho". In 2021, she released her second studio album, Te Amo Lá Fora, which deepened her lyrical aesthetics and incorporated regional references such as ciranda on the track "Tu e Eu", consolidating her name in the national pop scene.
In 2023, she signed a contract with Universal Music Brasil, the label through which she released her third studio album Tara e Tal in 2024 and the EP esse delírio vol.1 in 2025, a project that included a collaboration with rapper AJULLIACOSTA. In addition to her prominent discography, Duda expanded her work into television, serving as a judge on the 13th season of The Voice Brasil broadcast in 2025 by SBT and Disney+. Her work moves through different facets of contemporary Brazilian pop music, maintaining a strong aesthetic and emotional appeal.
