Biography

Dudu Tsuda is a multimedia artist, sound artist, musician, composer, performer, and producer born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1979. He holds a Master's degree in Semiotics and Aesthetics from the Catholic University of São Paulo, where he also earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Multimedia. Tsuda is also a professor, currently teaching in the postgraduate program in Music and Image at Faculdade Santa Marcelina and has been a guest professor at PUC-SP.

Tsuda's artistic practice spans various disciplines, including sound art, visual arts, audiovisual, cinema, and new media. He is the founder and artistic director of ALEA experimental, a label focused on experimental music and sound art. His work has been exhibited, performed, and recognized internationally, with residencies, exhibitions, and concerts in countries such as France, Japan, Colombia, Bolivia, Spain, and Germany. He has received awards for his work, including "Best Original Soundtrack" at the 49th Brasilia International Film Festival in 2016 and recognition at the 8th Tokyo Experimental Festival.

His artistic research often explores the intersection of sound, space, and societal issues. One notable project, "ILHA_A vida é uma Utopia," addresses radioactive contamination of seawater in Japan and draws parallels to environmental disasters in Brazil, such as oil spills and dam failures. Tsuda has also been a long-time collaborator with the contemporary dance company 'Núcleo Artérias' since 2001, contributing to their award-winning productions. His diverse career reflects a deep engagement with experimental and avant-garde artistic expressions within the Brazilian cultural landscape.
