Biography

Duduca & Saulinho was a Brazilian musical duo that emerged in the early 1960s, contributing to the sertanejo raiz (root country music) genre. The duo consisted of Duduca (José Trindade) and Saulinho. They released several iconic recordings on 78 RPM records, including "Vida de Cobrador" and "Aliança Destruída" on their first record in 1962, and "Rasqueado Vingado" and "Saudade do Meu Bem" on their second. Duduca later went on to form the successful duo Duduca & Dalvan, which achieved significant popularity in the 1980s, known for their socially conscious lyrics. Saulinho also had a notable career, with "Vida de Cobrador" being one of his compositions.

Duduca, born José Trindade in Anápolis, Goiás, on July 4, 1936, had a prolific career in Brazilian country music. Before forming Duduca & Dalvan in 1977, he was already active in the music scene in the early 1960s, notably with Saulinho. Duduca & Dalvan became known as "Os Leões da Música Sertaneja" (The Lions of Country Music) and gained prominence for songs like "Espinheira" and "Massa Falida," which resonated with social movements. Duduca passed away on February 17, 1986, at the age of 49, from a heart attack, shortly after the release of the album "Massa Falida."

Saulinho, whose full name is believed to be Saulinho, was a key collaborator in the duo Duduca & Saulinho. He co-wrote "Vida de Cobrador" and "Aliança Destruída," as well as "Rasqueado Vingado." While Duduca's career with Dalvan reached national fame and even political relevance, Duduca & Saulinho laid the groundwork for their later successes and contributed to the rich tapestry of Brazilian sertanejo music. The duo's early work is remembered for its authentic roots and contribution to the genre.
