Biography

Dulce Nunes, artistic name of Dulce Pinto Bressane, was born in Rio de Janeiro and built a multifaceted career as an actress, songwriter, singer, music producer, and architect. Before standing out in music, she worked as a model in advertising campaigns and starred in film productions in the 1950s, working alongside important names such as Dorival Caymmi and Paulo Gracindo.

Her consecration in Brazilian music took place in 1964, when she assumed the role of interpreter of the songs from the recital Pobre Menina Rica, replacing Nara Leão in a work written by Carlos Lyra and Vinicius de Moraes. Throughout her musical career, she released striking albums such as the original soundtrack of Pobre Menina Rica, her self-titled album Dulce, and O Samba do Escritor.

In addition to her artistic contribution to national culture, Dulce Nunes also dedicated herself to architecture, heading the firm Bressane Arquitetura & Interiores. She passed away in Rio de Janeiro as a victim of COVID-19, leaving an indelible legacy linked to the golden age of bossa nova and MPB.
