Biography
Duo Fenix is a Brazilian musical group formed in 1993, consisting of Krystyna Dubik and Waldemar Kołaczyk. The duo is known for their music that transitions between the Silesian dialect and standard Polish, addressing themes of daily life, family, love, and traditions, with a touch of humor and sensitivity. Throughout their career, they have released various works, including albums and music videos, which have gained space on regional radio stations and TV programs.
Initially, Duo Fenix focused on covers of popular music in Polish. Between 1998 and 2001, the group expanded its lineup with Eugeniusz Kaniok, performing as "Francik i Dwa Fyniki," a period during which they dedicated themselves to songs in the Silesian dialect and a style closer to "szlagier" (a popular musical genre). Since 2002, Duo Fenix has returned to its original two-member lineup, maintaining the duality of names for their performances: "Duo Fenix" for the repertoire in Polish and "Dwa Fyniki" for the songs in the Silesian dialect.
Waldemar Kołaczyk is the main composer of most of the duo's songs, with arrangements frequently signed by Andrzej Skaźnik. The partnership with other composers and lyricists from the Silesian music scene also enriches the repertoire. The group has released more than ten albums and several cassette tapes, in addition to dozens of music videos. Their hits include "Życzymy szczęścia", "Na krawędzi dnia", "Siedem zmysłów", and "Stuk puk", among others, which frequently appear on regional hit lists and TV programs.
