Biography

Ed Carlos, artistic name of Oscar Teixeira, was born in Santo André on February 3, 1952. A Brazilian singer, songwriter, and businessman, he earned the nickname "Little King of Jovem Guarda" after being sponsored by Roberto Carlos. His recording career began in the late 1960s, releasing his self-titled debut studio album with the Fermata label in 1968.

With the cooling of the Jovem Guarda movement, the artist followed in his godfather's footsteps and directed his career toward a romantic repertoire, recording several albums with labels such as CBS and Okeh throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Among his notable releases is the 1979 single that included the song "Roberto, meu amigão", a clear tribute to the singer who decisively influenced his artistic journey.

Alongside his musical career, in 1989 Ed Carlos founded the Ed Carnes Restaurant with his wife Vânia, located in the Cambuci neighborhood of São Paulo, an establishment where he began working as a businessman. Throughout his life, he also ventured into acting, participating in the 1979 film Joelma 23° Andar, consolidating a diverse career in the Brazilian cultural scene.
