Biography

Edson Vieira de Barros, known artistically as Ed Wilson, was born in Rio de Janeiro and played a fundamental role in shaping the Brazilian musical scene starting in the 1960s. He began his artistic journey alongside his brothers Renato Barros and Paulo César Barros, founding the famous band Renato e Seus Blue Caps, a group that helped shape the sound of Jovem Guarda. After leaving the band, Ed Wilson pursued a solo career and consolidated his talent as a composer, having works recorded by his former groupmates.

Throughout his career, the singer moved through different facets of national music, recording with major labels such as RCA, Odeon, and CBS. In the 1990s, he participated in projects to revive Jovem Guarda alongside major names in Brazilian music, such as Erasmo Carlos and Wanderléia. Later, he directed his talent toward gospel music, where he had compositions interpreted by artists such as Alex Gonzaga, lead singer of the band Novo Som.

In 2005, Ed Wilson was among the creators of the band The Originals, actively participating in the recording of the group's CDs and DVDs. His trajectory was marked by versatility, moving from 1960s rock to the contemporary Christian segment. The artist passed away in Rio de Janeiro in 2010, after battling thyroid cancer, leaving a lasting legacy in the country's music history.
