Biography
Edelton Gloeden is a central figure in the contemporary Brazilian classical guitar scene. Born in São Paulo in 1955, he began his musical studies in the 1960s under the guidance of Roberto Dalla Vecchia and, later, Henrique Pinto. His career is marked by a solid academic and artistic background, consolidated by his work as a professor in the Music Department of the School of Communications and Arts at USP (ECA/USP), where he became one of the foremost references in the teaching and research of the instrument in the country.
As a performer and researcher, Gloeden has dedicated himself extensively to Brazilian guitar music. His doctoral thesis focused on the "12 Valsas Brasileiras em Forma de Estudos" by Francisco Mignone, a work he helped rescue and disseminate through premiere performances. Throughout his career as a concert artist, he has given world premieres of pieces by renowned Brazilian composers, such as Camargo Guarnieri, Cláudio Santoro, Gilberto Mendes, and Guerra-Peixe, in addition to having been a member of the original lineup of the prestigious Brazilian Guitar Quartet.
Beyond the stage and the classroom, Edelton Gloeden contributes significantly to the dissemination of classical music through radio production, notably with the program "Violão em Tempo de Concerto" on USP-FM Radio. His musical partnerships include frequent collaborations with his wife, soprano Adélia Issa, and award-winning recordings paying tribute to icons such as Radamés Gnattali, in partnership with guitarist Paulo Porto Alegre, reaffirming his fundamental role in the preservation and renewal of the national guitar repertoire.
